Provo 14, Pleasant Grove 10
Commentary:
Oh boy did Taylor have a great game. Warner was hurt near the end of the half, and the Provo offense really struggled to pull it together until Tay went in as quarterback with about 4 minutes left in the game.
The papers, fans, players, and coaches all essentially attribute the turnaround and the win to Taylor. Needless to say, the performance from all the team was stellar. There were a few gotchas which were costly, but overall, everyone did a great job.
We're really pleased with Tay and his ability. We've known all along that he could make just those kinds of plays, we've seen him do it in the QB spot for years. He was referred to by the paper as the 3rd string QB, which is technically true right now given that Quynn Haws has been playing in the JV role this season, and that Tay hadn't taken any reps for several weeks, but he's always been told to be prepared to back up Warner, and I think Coach looks at him more as 2nd string. The coach did tell him to be ready to practice at QB this week and to plan on starting against Timpview. We're all hoping that Warner will be back in top form, but if not, then we have faith in Taylor making it happen.
Check out the links at right for the stories from the paper. Note that the Herald's major prep sports headline was "King for the Day!"
Oh and one other thing - During the BYU game on Saturday, Taylor was mentioned by name by the Tulsa coach (a former bulldog) as having been the miracle worker behind the win. How cool is that folks? Very cool!
A final apology if I seem too proud right now, but I am, I am.
